Stowe - Saturday Morning

Bus Race

Sunday 8 July 2007

grand prix

What a race, overtaking, changes of lead and no bloody adverts, are you listening ITV. NO BLOODY ADVERTS ITV! My eyes have been running all weekend thanks to the hay fever, but during the Italian National Anthem the tears were real. Another podium for Lewis and what a mighty reception he got when he received his trophy. Now watching the classic cars sliding around Woodcote corner. Paul and Sue x x

on the grid

We are in our seats on the pit strait (I'm the one in red) just about to see the drivers parade. Here's to a great race, Paul and Sue x x

qualifing Saturday

Wow, what a session! Despite a mistake at the last corner Kimi took pole only to be beaten by Lewis in the dying seconds, the crowd went mad. After that we went to Copse to watch GP2 race, and then saw DC on his way back from a Red Bull event. What does a Scotsman wear under his kilt? The one bungee jumping had a black thong, it was almost Sue's most disappointing moment, only eclipsed by the Waltzers at the funfair. Got back and had some cider in the clubhouse before heading back to the tent. Lots of new people here, including some who are currently dancing on top of their car to early 90's dance music, all of a sudden Duran Duran at live earth seems appealing, mind you, nice idea of putting them on, I'm sure it's a great way of saving energy as every one turns off their T.V. To shave some toenails off our carbon footprint it's another luke warm shower at the clubhouse, before tipples and nibbles at Chez Canvas. Even better than missing pop stars telling us what we are doing wrong, we'll be missing the most outrageous French invasion since William the Conquerer, in the guise of the Tour de France. Fingers crossed the Dakar rally is coming in the opposite direction. Looking forward to a great race tomorrow in our Pit Strait seats. Night Night everyone. Paul and Sue x x

3rd Practice Saturday

After a much better nights sleep, we awoke to sunny skies. After watching four girls in mini skirts put up a tent we headed for the circuit and watched the 3rd practice from the fastest part of the circuit. Then it was off in a helicopter to see Silverstone from above. It's a hard life this blogging, but someone has to do it. Kimi was fastest again but Massa wins the flymo award for his off at Stowe. We are now in the Beckets grandstand waiting for qualy to begin. Paul and Sue x

friday 2nd practice

We watched second practice from Beckets and Copse, incredible to see how different drivers take corners. Kimi took the fastest lap of the day. No Jenson for 2nd practice today, his car was fine but his back wasn't, still not sure if he'll be qualifing tomorrow. On a brighter note DC will be staying at Red Bull another year- you read it first here folks! Loads of different food stalls to choose from and we choose pie and mash. After the Porche cup race we caught some buses racing on the track and have the video evidence, watch out you-tube! Back at the club house we arrived in just in time for a power cut, no Darts for us tonight. Lets hope it's back on for when we have a shower later. We are wind swept and weary but have had a brilliant day. As a life long armchair F1 fan, there is nothing like seeing the cars for real. We are on a petrol high now and are hooked F1 junkies, you can stick your Darts where the Bullseye don't shine. Paul and Sue x

friday first practice

Had a strange evening in the clubhouse last night, watching world darts on Sky and getting excited about it. As you can tell, there was not alot to do last night. Back in the tent with all the helicopters going over to the circuit it felt like being in an episode of M.A.S.H. and not a very good one either with the wind blowing a gale forcing me to have to 'storm the guy ropes' (it's a boy scout thing). A short walk this morning and we arrived at the circuit in time to watch classic cars sliding around Club corner. We found our seats on the pit strait ( we are by the first bridge after woodcote) and watched first practice. The sheer brute force of a F1 car took our breath away and are earplugs out. Lewis was fastest this morning with the Ferrari's just behind. Sue now has a D.C. cap and David bined his Red Bull in celebration of her new headgear. We've watched the Gp2 cars at Copse corner and we are now at Beckets waiting for 2nd practice. The Red Devils have just pulled out due to the wind, never mind, we don't want them landing on our tent. We are having a great time , Paul and Sue.

we're here!

The car is parked, the tent is up and the curse is in place! We are camping at Silverstone golf club which is light years away from Glastonbury camping, but an asteroids throw from the circuit entrance. Proper toilets and showers, this must be how royalty go camping. We are in the golf clubhouse enjoying a tipple and chatting with the locals. The site here has been fully booked for a month, they had lots of phone calls yesterday from people who were even more desperate for a camping space than they were for advance planning. Seeing the Beckets complex as we arrived made it sink in where we are and the excitement is building. It has started raining but the tent needs a wash anyway, only on the outside anyway. Another first for me today, a ride in a golf buggy, when the members of the club go home I plan to get a couple and hold a jousting tournament with the aid of putters. Paul and Sue x
